Welcome
to the Institute of Rural Health's "Database of Good Practice in Rural
Health and Wellbeing". This project has been funded and supported by Defra
(Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs). Our aim is to
provide an easily searchable website for those organisations looking to
improve service delivery and access to care for people living in rural
communities. The database disseminates examples of good practice on a
national basis and can be used to encourage networking and development
of links between different organisations involved in healthcare both from
the statutory and the voluntary sector. We will be constantly looking
for submissions of good practice. Please use the links provided to download
the criteria for submission and field layout which sets out the information
that we require. We would also like to receive any digital photographs
of your area if you have any.
About Us
The
Institute of Rural Health was set up in 1996, as an academic centre of
excellence. We are committed to delivering postgraduate education to health
professionals living and working in rural areas and we work in partnership
with other organisations to optimise the health and well being of rural
people and their communities. We also carry out research into rural health
issues on behalf of a range of agencies. To find out more about us please
use the link to our website: www.rural-health.ac.uk
The Institute also runs the Rural Health Forum which is a network
of individuals and organisations with an interest in rural health issues.
The forum includes representation from several government departments.
The aim of the forum is to raise awareness about rural health issues at
policy level and is the health sub-group of the Rural Affairs Forum for
England. To find out more about the forum or to join the rural health
forum exchange follow the link to: www.ruralhealthforum.org.uk
or use the links page.
We are always looking for examples of good practice
from all over the U.K. Please click the the criteria
for submission and the field
layout to download, which sets out the information that we require.
We would also like to receive photographs of your rural areas.
The Department of Health and the Department for Environment, Food and
Rural Affairs have provided funding for the Rural Proofing for Health
project to help those developing and delivering policy in the health world,
particularly in the NHS, tailor their work so it meets rural needs more
effectively.
